Welcome to our new blog series! Today, we’re going to talk about something super cool happening right here in India. It’s called Sarvam AI, and it’s basically like India’s own “Super-Digital-Brain.” 🧠🇮🇳
🌟 What in the World is Sarvam AI?
Imagine you have a robot friend. Most robot friends (like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity) are from far away places like the USA. They are very smart, but sometimes they don’t “get” us. They might not understand your favorite local snack, the way you mix Hindi and English (Hinglish!), or how to read your grandmother’s handwritten Marathi recipe.
Sarvam AI is different. It was built in Bengaluru by people who wanted to make sure that everyone in India—from a kid in school to a farmer in a village—can use AI in their own language.
Why is Sarvam AI a Big Deal?
- It Speaks “Indian”: While other AIs “learn” Hindi or Tamil as a second language, Sarvam AI was born speaking them! It knows 22+ Indian languages perfectly.
- It’s Fast & Frugal: It doesn’t need a giant, expensive computer to work. It’s designed to be light and quick, so it can run on basic phones.
- It Keeps Our Data Safe: Because it’s “Sovereign AI,” it keeps all our Indian information right here in India, safe and sound.

You might wonder, “Why use Sarvam if I already have Gemini?” Well, we ran some experiments in our “Test Lab” to find out!

What we found: When we asked for an essay in English but used a Hindi prompt, Gemini was like a strict teacher who followed the rule perfectly. Indus (Sarvam AI) was like a friend who wanted to keep chatting in Hindi because it felt more natural!
